Vegetable Description: Chantenay Red Cored carrots are popular for the home garden and great for canning and freezing! Blunt, blocky, tapered roots are 5-6” long, and deep reddish orange all the way through. Fine grained flesh is crisp and sweet. Abundant erect tops grow up to 20” tall. A good producer, well adapted to heavier soils. Average water needs. Attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds.

Vegetable Planting: Direct sow outside in early spring. Can be fall planted. Plant about 2” apart and 1/2“ below soil surface. Can sow closer, then thin later. Rows should be spaced at 18”-24” apart.

Vegetable Seed Saving: Allow seed heads to dry on plants; then remove heads, break them open, and collect seeds. Clean and dry the seeds before storage in cool dry conditions.
