This wildflower is one of the shortest species of sunflowers that are native to the United States. Preferring dry meadows, fields, or rocky open woods, this wildflower is wonderfully tolerant of drought situations. Orange-yellow rays, and yellow disks appear on the nearly naked stems, thus meriting it the common name "Few-Leaf, or Naked-Stem Sunflower." Birds and butterflies love the sunny blooms!
