A member of the phlox family, this native biennial or short-lived perennial sends up it's blooms on narrow, tall spikes. Each red, tubular flower flares on the end to form a five-lobed star. Scarlet red on the outside, and yellow dotted with red on the inside, these blooms are loved by birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Once established, this striking wildflower is carefree and drought tolerant.
