The Eastern Prickly Pear is a low growing cactus with a reclining and creeping growth habit! The plant is made up of flat, fleshy pads covered with minute barbs, and pretty, bright yellow blossoms. The edible red fruit which follows the flower may be eaten raw or in jellies! Fleshy pads are also edible if peeled, and the seeds have also been ground and many parts of the plant have been used medicinally. Loves full sun and well-drained soils!
