The bluest of the phlox species, the woodland variety's blooms are most commonly found in shady, well-drained areas of the forest. Intensely sweet smelling, they can fill a whole room with their fragrance. Reminding some of lilac's, this is one of their most loved features. Intensely blue, these five-petaled blooms are especially loved by the long-tonged bees and butterflies that are able to take advantage of the sweet nectar. This sweet little wildflower is wonderful as a naturalizing ground cover in shady areas!
