Commonly found in flood-plain forests, marshes, and moist prairies, this native green bulrush makes a good choice for naturalizing your wetland. Surprisingly, the bulrushes are members of the sedge rather than the rush family, and true to the sedge nature, small spikelets of brown seeds replace the unobtrusive blooms, and provide a nourishing food source for ducks and other wetland birds. Occasionally, muskrats and meadow mice will allow eat the seeds!
