A sunflower-like perennial, Rosinweed derives it's common name from the resinous gummy sap that secrets out of any broken or cut plant stems. Native American Indian children would chew this resin as gum! Though strikingly alike in appearance, Rosinweed tends to bloom earlier than the sunflower, but at times, their blooming period will overlap. Goldfinches will occasionally nibble on the seeds, and livestock will eat the foliage, but overall this plant is untouched by animals.
