Many falsely accuse this plant of being the originator of hay fever. The showy blooms of this native wildflower are generally not the source of this common allergy, but rather, the wind-borne pollen from other plants such as ragweed that appear during the same time. Tiny, bright yellow flowers cluster atop the stiff, reddish stems, typically reaching heights of two to three feet. Bees and butterflies are commonly seen hovering around this stunning display of color, and no meadow or prairie planting is quite complete without this beautiful attraction!
