Vegetables - Asparagus Seeds
Asparagus seeds take some time to grow, but if you have a larger area to plant, they are a lot more cost effective than planting out crowns. We had an area that we wanted to plant in Asparagus at an old farmhouse that we lived in, and we started the seeds in the greenhouse. Once they were large enough, we transplanted them out into the garden, where they got established. The seeds can also be direct-sown, but seedlings that are transplanted make a more even planting. Once our Asparagus patch was established, we had loads of fresh Asparagus for the kitchen table!
